Mat Colors - aesthetic value

Once toned my prints usually have a cool magenta cast to them overall but not always. Much depends on the darkroom paper itself, which usually has a green cast.

The mat color is an important part of the photograph - it can greatly compliment it. Here I mat a photograph, deciding on the best complimenting off-white color. A cool cream color seems best, but warm white works well also.

Recent Archival Prints

Recent archival silver gelatin printings include, 4x5 inch large format photography contact prints. Perhaps my favorite prints of all.
Enlargements are from 35mm from the Leica and 6x6cm Rolleiflex cameras,  SL66 and 6001 as well as 5x4 inch negatives. Toning to follow!

Photography in Illinois

June was a good month for photographing in farm country Illinois, the weather there was great. Results are some really good B&W negatives made using the 4x5, plus many rolls from the Rolleiflex. Prints to follow.

Picture is from my phone, which will make a outstanding Black and White print.

Black and White Photography in Three Formats

Working in 35mm, 6x6 and 5x4 inch almost entirely in Black and White Negative I'm starting to refine the printing!

Justice to the fine separation of highlight and shadow values in this print is not possible.

Honored to be on Leica Master Shots (film catagory),

West Chester CCAA show

Currently on view at the West Chester CCAA exhibit is "A Regal View".
Beautiful Provence, the Popes castle no less on a fantasticly clear summer afternoon.
